A foray into design at a larger scale, the Lasting Mark model explores the theme of commemoration as expressed through architecture. It takes the form of a literal mark upon the world, allowing viewers to all but see the giant chisel swooping down from the heavens to carve its path.

The gradually sloping chisel cut creates a ramp leading to an underground chamber for visitors. The material displaced by the cut—complete with grass still clinging to its surface—arcs upward to form a spire accessible from within and visible from a great distance.
