Paper Exploration
An exercise in design with constraints, this piece explores the complex forms achievable in a medium as simple as paper. Through nearly six hundred pleats and creases—but no cutting—a fluid shape emerges from a highly geometric process. The piece began life as a single, very large sheet of paper and has only one seam joining the two ends. This particular sculpture represents one element of a larger study in paper, images of which can be found here.
